Importing Data

PrivStack can import data from popular productivity apps. Each plugin handles its own import — check the plugin’s documentation for supported formats and step-by-step instructions.

Import Dialog

How to Import

  1. Open the plugin you want to import into
  2. Look for the Import option (usually in the plugin’s menu or settings)
  3. Select the source format
  4. Choose your export file
  5. Map fields if needed, then import

General Tips

  • Export from your old app first. Each app has its own export process — check their documentation.
  • Use standard formats when possible. Markdown, JSON, CSV, ICS, and vCard are widely supported.
  • Import before you start working. It’s easier to import into a fresh plugin than to merge with existing data.
  • Check the result. Review imported items to make sure everything came through correctly.

Supported Sources

Import support varies by plugin. First-party plugins support migration from popular alternatives in their category. Check each plugin’s documentation for the full list of supported import sources and formats.

After Importing

  • Delete the export file if it contains sensitive data (especially password exports)
  • Review imported items for any formatting issues
  • Set up sync to make your imported data available on all devices
